A contemporary version of the Shakespeare classic Julius Caesar will be performed at Harrow Arts Centre on Saturday 13 February.

Bearfoot School of Performing Arts are bringing Julius Caesar bang up to date using modern themes, settings and language to make the play more accessible to young people.

Using a cast made up entirely of local young people between the ages of 13 and 19 years old the play explores the issues around relationships, violence and the struggle and corruption of power in a modern context that young people can relate to.

Sally Worner, Director of Bearfoot, said: “By making Julius Caesar relevant to the modern day we are able to tackle current youth issues such as knife crime, gangs and the desire to be the best.”

“We’re using language that young people can relate to, in settings they are familiar with.  It’s a great way to expose them to, and help them appreciate, the work of one of our great British playwrights as well as explore the issues that matter to them.”

Julius Caesar will be held at the Harrow Arts Centre on Saturday 13 February 2010 with performances at 3pm and 7pm.  For full details and to book your tickets please click here.
